Connect and Log In to an FTP Server

See more FTP Examples

Demonstrates the Chilkat Ftp2.Connect method, which connects to the server and authenticates in a single call. It takes no arguments and uses the Hostname, Port, Username, and Password properties.

Background: Connect is the one-call path that covers the whole handshake: it opens the TCP connection (through any configured proxy), negotiates TLS if enabled, reads the server greeting, and sends USER/PASS to log in. For most applications this is all that is needed. Use ConnectOnly plus LoginAfterConnectOnly instead when you need to do something between connecting and authenticating — such as inspecting the greeting or choosing credentials based on it.
